Guybrush looks like he's fifteen again and everything is just a bit too round and bright, although that might mostly be because of.ģ. It was the first 3D one so of course it was going to be a bit different but they did it better in the (also 3D) Tales of Monkey Island. The design was a little twee compared to the older games. I just want Guybrush to interact with that vending machine, why does he keep facing the other way? AAAAARGH! etc.Ģ. Being the only MI game where you can't just point 'n' click, it feels like you're handicapped unnecessarily.
I guess they decided that because it was 3D they'd make people move around like in a first/third person adventure game, but I like Monkey Island for the puzzles, not for fiddly controls. I don't know if you've played any of the older ones so maybe it's just that it's a disappointment in comparison with them.
Monkey Island is my favourite game franchise (that probably makes me really wimpy by gamer standards but meh), so it's not that I didn't like EfMI, but it was (in my own humble opinion) by far the worst out of the five MI games.
